MODAL AUXILIARY VERBS

CAN ---- পারা ( সামর্থ বা সম্ভাবনা বোঝালে বসে।)

EX.

1. তুমি পড়তে পারো।
=> You can read.
1. তুমি পড়তে পারো না।
=> You can not read. ( read এখানে main verb এবং can হল modal auxiliary verb. Not বসে auxiliary বা modal auxiliary verb এর পরে।)
1. তুমি কি পড়তে পারো ?
=> Can you read ?
1. তুমি কি পড়তে পারো না ?
=> Can you not read ?


2. ছেলেগুলো নাচতে পরে।
=> The boys can dance.
=> The boys can not dance.
=> Can the boys dance ?
=> Can the boys not dance ?


3. আজকে বৃষ্টি পরতে পারে।
=> It can rain today.(Affirmative )
=> It can not rain today.(Negative)
=> Can it rain today ?(Interrogative)
=> Can it not rain today ?(Negative Interrogative)


4. তার বাবা এখানে আসতে পারে।
=> His father can come here.
=> His father can not come here.
=> Can his father come here ?
=> Can not his father come here ?


COULD ----- পারতাম/পরত


1. আমি রান্না করতে পারতাম।
=> I could cook.
=> I could not cook.
=> Could I cook ?
=> Could I not cook ?

2. তুমি কি গান গাইতে পারতে ?
=> Could you sing ?




MAY ----------- পারা(অনুমতি চাওয়া বা দেওয়া ও প্রার্থনার ক্ষেত্রে বসে।)


1. স্যার, আমি কি ভিতরে আসতে পারি ?
=> Sir, may I come in ?
1. আমি ভিতরে আসতে পারি ।
=> I may come in.( 'in' একটি adverb যার মানে ভিতরে )


2. হ্যাঁ, তুমি ভিতরে আসতে পার ।
=> Yes , you may come in.

3. ম্যাডাম, আমি কি বাইরে যেতে পারি ?
=> Madam, may I go out ?

4. না , তুমি বাইরে যেতে পার না।
=> No, you may not go out.

5. আমি কি তোমার কলমটা নিতে পারি ?
=> May I take your pen ?

6. অবশ্যই , তুমি আমার কলমটা নিতে পর।
=> Of Course, you may take my pen .

7 . তুমি সুখি হও।
=> May you be happy.

8. ভগবান তোমায় আর্শীবাদ করুক।
=> May God bless you.




MIGHT -------- পারা , পারত


Ex.
সে এইখানে আসতে পরত।
=> He might come here.


SHALL/WILL ------- ভবিষ্যত এর ক্ষেত্রে বসে

'I' এবং 'We' এর পর SHALL বসে, নাহলে WILL।

Ex.
1. সে এইখানে আসবে।
=> He will come here.
2. তুমি বাইরে যাবে না।
=> You will not go out.




SHOULD ---- উচিত

Ex.

1. আমদের উচিত আমদের পিতা মাতাকে শ্রদ্ধা করা।
=> We should respect our parents.

2. তোমার এই বইটি পড়া উচিত।
=> You should read this book.


MUST ------- অবশ্যই উচিত


Ex.

1. তোমার অবশ্যই স্কুলে যাওয়া উচিত।
=> You must go to the school.
2. ছেলেটির অবশ্যই এখানে বসা উচিত।
=> The boy must sit here.



NEED --------- প্রয়োজন / দরকার

Ex.
1.আমার এই কলমটি দরকার।
=> I need this pen.
2. রহিমের একটি ছাতা দরকার ছিল।
=> Rahim needed an umbrella.



DARE -------------- সাহস করা


Ex.

1. রতন সেখানে যেতে সাহস করে।
=> Ratan dare go there.
2. সে আমাকে চ্যালেঞ্জ করতে সাহস করে না।
=> He dare not challenge me.
